Despite the rated score, one has to love this animé simply for its stereotypicity, banality, and obviousness. This is THE great vampire movie of a
generation, so I must be lenient in my criticism, but really, how much good can be said for this movie???
To answer that question above, I will initiate with the one saving-grace that this movie presents,
its plot. The story is both interesting and exciting, the characters lives and fates intertwining well with eachother. Unfortunately, as is the case so often,

this animé fails to bring almost any closure. D leaves,
the count is dead, and the story is dropped. That sum's up just about the whole ending, but if that is the case, what was the point of the movie in the first place.
Whew, glad I got that out, now to the BAD parts. I will grant that the movie was made in 1985, but really, how much does repetitively using 4 different colors actually save? Ok, I exaggerate,
but not by much. Much of the effect the movie would have had in a higher quality is lost due to this factor. As for music, there was 1 good song in the entire movie, D's travel theme. I love that song,
I can listen to it for a long time, but please give me something else. Most of the music could have been stolen from a third parts NES game.
As for Premise, I don't believe that the mere suggestion
of D's identity can constitute this entire category. Unfortunately, that and the intro sequence is all you get...have fun. I loved watching the movie, but don't get me wrong, it was just bad.
