One thing to keep in mind while you are reading this review is that I saw the movie about 1 year after I saw the series
(and I do mean all 3). However, the creative comedy and hilarious happenings of the series are just not present in the movie. It simultaneously tries to be funny and serious, and that
just doesn't work for it. I wish it had been more focused on one or the other, but it wasn't. Still, if you are a Tenchi Muyo fan, this is a movie you must see. However, don't be upset
or distressed if you are dissapointed, just know that I warned you.

There are really two plot lines in this movie, each of which are seperate occasionally, combine occasionally, and are stupid occasionally. The first story is that of Tenchi and his friends
traveling through time to save someone, all of which is so cliché that it boggles my mind. Well done as it may be, it is NOT original. The second part of the plot is the sappy love story between
Achika and Nobuyuki. What drives them together is beyond me, but I won't judge. It just seems that this plotline has been done so many times. In reference to Character Development, let's regard
the title of the movie, Tenchi Muyo in Love. This title is inappropriate, since Tenchi Muyo is not in love in this movie, in fact, he is a minor character. That aside, the characters are all pretty
standard pre-packaged animé people, who barely reflect their personalities from the series. But, it's fun to watch, thus 7.
The music in Tenchi Muyo was good, and fit well with the action or
atmosphere with the scene, but you will forget it as soon as you hear it. For the first time well...ever, I felt no urge to run out and buy the OST, but that doesn't make it bad. It's just not memorable.
Animation though, I've got quite a bone to pick with the animation of this movie. As I said, I watched the whole series, and there is nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, about this movie's visuals better
than the original. It is on par, if not worse. I'm not saying the graphics are bad, they just fail to meet the standard Tenchi set for itself, leaving me completely disillusioned. Movies and OAVs are supposed
to be better than their episodal counterparts.
The story itself begins quite suddenly, and it is not until halfway through the movie that you fully understand what is going on. In a sense, though,
this suspense evokes an amazing amount of attention to the movie, even at its dullest moments. For this, I must praise the Tenchi Movie. The story is cute and romantic, but I just wish it followed a bit
more closely with the series. On that note, if you haven't seen the series, DO NOT WATCH THE MOVIE! YOU WILL NOT UNDERSTAND THE PEOPLE OR THE PLOT OR ANYTHING REALLY. This movie is tailored to Tenchi
Muyo fans, and I would hate for it to be misjudged because of ignorant viewers.
