Hmm, this movie is special, for lack of a better term. When you see it you will feel emotions ranging from guilt, to happiness,
to heartwarming sympathy. This animé was the milestone for modern animé, taking the leap from cautious art medium, to the quality animé that we enjoy today. Albeit it is old, and most of you will
not like the "Old School" animés, Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind is a movie to see for all real animé fans.
To begin with, this movie has one of the most

imaginative and creative plots ever concieved. From politics to humanism, from bliss to apocalypse, this movie encompasses an enormously broad range of themes that are adressed and analyzed to
a good extent. In fact, save for the questionable and abrupt (and also kind of cheesy) ending, this movie's plot is perfect.
When it comes to animation, one can't say too much. It was made in 1984. Despite that, it manages to present some of the most breathtaking aerial scenes that I have ever seen
in any animé, and it is that very achievement that has earned is a score other than 4. Music is also decent, but, as always, there is a complaint. The sound will often lapse into modern pop
directly from classical, something I am not too fond of.
The characters and personalities of Nausicaa of the Valley of Wind are extremely memorable in their attitudes and their emotionality. As a good movie should, it challenges the viewer to draw his or her
own conclusions from the characters and their motivations. So much is put into the character design, background, and development, that it is the characters themselves, not events, that truly drive the
plot forwards and comprise most of the last category, Premise. One learns much about the nature of the world and personal motivations through the direct actions and flashbacks of the characters.
From the premise of the apocalypse to Nausicaa's incessant love for the insects, one is left with a good understanding of the movie elements.
One last thing, watch out for HEAVY religious overtones.
If you are unprepared and are caught off guard, you might end up hating the movie, which would be truly unfortunate. Other than that, as I said earlier, this is a movie for a true fan.
